The Color of Spring

The colors at this end of the lake were awesome! We were all working on a garden spot and had to stop and take some pictures. This whole area up here is just flooded with color this time of year. A great payback for the browns and greys of Winter.

Edge of the Evening

Even after the great shades of green around the lake, there was still something great to see.

Springtime at Silvernail

This was a very good reason to pause in digging up a garden spot. The time of the evening and the light were just too good to be working so hard.

The Gate

This is at the end of my lake. I think of it as the gate between nowhere and noplace. It just sits there in the middle of the bushes.

Veranda Beach

This is where they are going to build two hundred cottages in a community setting across the lake. So far, nothing.

Once a Tree

This old tree gets to watch over the lake. I wonder what happened to it. Not one leaf. All by itself. There is a story there somewhere. I need a tree detective.

An Old Snag

I thought this old tree was kind of neat.

A little scenery

I went for a short hike today.. it still amazes me what we miss in our hurried lives. This is just a little draw off the highway between town and the border. I've never stopped and walked up for a closer look until now.

Steps

We will be moving to the house on the left. Just a few short steps, but a whole lot of difference! We will have a private yard, big decks with a view, a large back deck with a lake view, further away from an annoying streetlight for better views of the stars, much more storage room, more parking space, trees... it will be well worth the work of moving!

Progress in Front

It's looking a little better in front too. For me, it wasn't even about the trailor... it's the yard. Trees and character. The rest is just icing on the cake.

Progress on Side

Looks a little better now.

Progress in Back

Things are beginning to come together. They completely replaced the old back porch area. I love the small triangle deck.

New Home 03

Looks rather bleak.

New Home 02

Yes, those are tires on the old roof.

A new home

It has been awhile since the trailor next door started getting a little renovation... A new bedroom addition; new decking.

Primitive Falls

Just about every Spring the water runoff (snowmelt if you prefer) happens right here. It is just called the falls... doesn't really have a name that I know of.. The rest of the year, just the rock face of rattlesnake heaven.

Beaver Lake 05

I got this shot of two canadian geese crossing the road when we were leaving. Unlike the chicken... we KNOW why these guys were crossing.

Beaver Lake 04

Walking along the road on the way back to the car. I love walking these roads.

Beaver Lake 03

This used to be a spot I could go camping when I was young, but they have turned it into a day-use only site now... You can see out on the ice where the snowmobilers come up and have some fun in the wintertime.

Beaver Lake 02

The ice hasn't completely melted off the lake yet, but where it has.. was a beautiful color.. even with cloudy skies. A busy lake too. A close look will show two ducks swimming away from us, and a Beaver crossing just above the point on the left.

Beaver Lake

This is driving into Beaver Lake. We decided to take a drive since I got off work early, and I have been waiting for the snow to melt up there. It is quite a bit higher than Oroville. It's about an hour away.

A Free State Park

This is the first opportunity I've taken to shoot a picture from the Osoyoos Lake State Park since I have been back because they wanted to charge a $5.00 fee for driving a car in to visit our own park. Everybody in this area refused and showed them what an empty park looks like. This is looking North towards Deep Bay, Boundary Point and Canada.

Fanning the Flames

The key to a good campfire is to get the air circulating really good! These are the rocks from my old campsite. We wanted to have as many campfires as possible before any drought conditions impose a burning ban. Another half month and this will be a great background.
