Back in Time

There is just something about these older cars that makes a person want to go for a ride in it! This one I would like to see parked in my driveway! I don't know what year and make this is, but it sure was a neat looking car. Elegant.

Truck One

And look at you like you were stupid.

Truck Two

Everybody gets to drive by you through an alternate route because you are blocking the whole highway...

Truck Three

This is what happens when Customs wants you to drive around and go thru the x-ray again and you don't pay attention to your driving.

Southstore Cleanup

This is the front of the store that could not be seen at all from the hiway.

Southstore Progress

I knew there was a building behind here! I took these pictures today because I know the remaining trees will come down also, and I wanted a 'scenic' picture of the renovation. Today I continue around the back "jungle" portion of the building.

Weekend Work

My project this weekend, other than completing moving next door, is to make all these trees and bushes dissappear. This used to be a store along the highway, but turn your back on it and look what happens! The next time you see this picture, it should look a little better.

No Forgetting Beaches

I just thought that it was time for a beach picture.. I always liked this log... it had character. If I went back there today it would be gone.. either swept away by a winter storm or cut into wood for somebody's campfire. Perhaps just carried away by a high tide to find another place to rest and intrigue.

Storm Guitar

After 25 years, I have finally gotten another 12-string guitar! It has been years since I even had a decent 6-string, so this is going to be a real treat for me. And a real bummer for the fingertips on my left hand. My brother just brought it back from a shop in wWenatchee where it was repaired, re-strung, and tuned.
When I drove to pick it up in the middle of a storm here, I took this picture of the west side of the valley from brother's house. The storm was worse while driving, but I wasn't going to stop. This was just a break in a series of squalls that passed through.

A Tale of Two Lindas

Last Monday I got informed at work that a friend and ex-boss from California had stopped by the house to see me. She was on a hurried trip to Canada.. to her family where her father had passed on from a sudden illness. My heart went out to her.. that she would suffer from a terrible loss in her life. I was trying to get my mind in order how to best offer my sympathies in a heartfelt and personal way.
Last Thursday I got informed at work that a friend and ex-boss from Oregon had been in a devastating motorcycle/pick-up crash that instantly took the life of her husband and his best friend riding another bike. She was life flighted to Portland with a ruptured spleen and multiple compound fractures in critical condition. My heart goes out to her.. that she will have to suffer such a tragic loss in her life. Once again I am trying to get my mind in order as to how best to show a friend that her loss is felt by others.

Blink
A new day begins
Just like any other
Open your eyes and they are there
Right where they have always been
Living the promise of a new day
Blink
A phone call sounds in the distance
The same ring as every time before
And after a hesitation you hear the sorrow
Of words not wanting to be spoken
Leaving the tears of a new day
Blink
A new day begins
Just like any other
Watch the scenery pass by
On a beautiful summer morning
Riding in the promise of a new day
Blink
An oncoming vehicle
Changes life in an instant
Never to be the same again
As you lay there
Fighting for the promise of a new day
Blink

- for the two Lindas in my life... my deepest heartfelt sympathies for your pain and your losses... may God give you the strength to find peace and the strength to recover and carry on.
