firetree

Of course this is not finished, but I thought I'd give you an idea of what it will look like, once I finish the detail, do the background, and the fore ground. After that, it's a matter of taking the picture in the right light so it's a cleaner image. Does this look familiar? Go back to the picture of my brother, and you'll see where I was inspired.

main street

Mainstreet pretty much says it all.

along the way

This little beauty spot is about 2 miles away from me, on the way into town. It's always a good picture right in there. I doctored out the guardrail, the mirror, and the phone lines so it could be a bit more appreciated. Usually, you just have time for a quick look until next time. Like my lake is a little hidden treasure, this one has always been in full view.

explanation?

I just can't wait for the explanation on this one. This is a town cop car sitting here, and this picture was taken almost an hour after it must have happened, because we drove by it earlier. So how did this car end up being here? One way or another, I bet this is going to be an interesting story. Town gossip has at least three versions out already.

my big brother

Well, this is my brother... Or isn't it? Through the magic of computer, he was not standing here, there were not leaves on the right-hand tree, and there used to be a plastic pvc pipe to the left of the firetree. Look for a painting of the firetree coming up, I worked on it today, just to get my hands wrapped around some paintbrushes again, and the painting is not coming out too badly, too bad it's on paper...

Behind is just North of Oroville by about 1 mile. I am still busy trying to figure out just what Oroville is now. So far since I have been back I've seen at least two unmaarked police? vehicles with lights that can pull you over, and I have not learned just where thay are from yet.

Fall will be leaving real quick now, so hopefully winter will have at least a couple pictures...

Unpicked

For Kathy

an experiment

Okay, I may be jumping the gun here a little, but what is the use of having a blog if you can't get "festive" when you want to? I really just wanted to see what the logo would look like for my website, and this was the fastest way to do it!

Hard at Work

Well, as long as the Boss doesn't catch me, I thought I'd take a little time out from my hard work just long enough for this little impromptu photo shoot in front of the Rye section. Today was Friday, so we get to wear jeans instead of dress pants. Well, I guess I had better get right on back to work!

New Links

I am still learning with this program, and I've managed to get a couple of links up on the right side of the page. The one called Ocean Cam is the KATU camera located on the Inn at Spanish Head. I used to drive by it every day on the way to & from work, and always looked forward to that little glimpse of the ocean right around there. Then the camera went down for at least two months while they were moving a transmission tower. Not my favorite beach, but it was my favorite beach cam in Lincoln City. Keep an eye on the link section. It will move you to my site and yahoo mail & such all from the one page. With this new blog (damn, I wish they had called it something else!) I have not been spending any time fixing my website back the way it was when I completely wiped out and lost the main page, but it is 'on the list'. Oh, yeah, I wanted to try something else while I was here. http://www.google.com might just be a good way to put a quick link into this if I happen to find one. We will see. You can just use the "back button" on the top left to navigate back to this site if you need to.

big falls

There, now this one looks a little better. I stumbled on an image resizing program about a month ago for saving my webspace, but during the move it was forgotten and the trial period has expired. Sorry about the watermark, that was a drawback of the trial period freebie. Anyway, a little better to look at...

the falls

Well, this doesn't look like it's going to be a terribly large size picture! I think I may have to repost this some time. This was done with a charcoal pencil and has become one of my favorite mediums in art. Sometimes it seems that the pictures just create themselves, and they are a lot faster and darker than regular pencils. You might need a magnifier to see it tho.

first truck

Here it is folks, my first truck back here. ALL of it! All thirty six cases. It was such a nice day I processed most of them right there on the loading dock. Well, somebody had to do it! If you look really close, you might see a black coffee cup on top of the case on the left. Next truck in two weeks.

no tax

This is where I work now. It is about the last American business before going into Canada, with the exception of a brokerage firm or two. Nice design, don't you think? I see I forgot to put the green hose away after power washing the front and side. This is taken from about as far away as I will ever have to park from the job. No need to lock the car doors here.

Fine art

Well, nobody said that I had to stick to scenery. Since it is my blog, I get to do anything I want to and tonight I was thinking of somebody very close, and very far away.

southlake

I have tried to post this picture about 4 times in a row, and my computer keeps crashing so the hell with it, I'm just going to get the picture up.... maybe.

northlake

A late morning cup of coffee, a walk along the lake, a view like this.... Now that's a day off! This is not the wild noisy beaches I have been going to, this is my quiet place, my homecoming. It is not a big lake, quite small really, but it will always hold a big place for me and I use it far more than anyone else around here, so I consider it MY lake. I watch it. I float on it, I photograph it, and one of these days I'm going to paint it, and that will really make it a part of me. The hills in the far background are Canada, just to give you an idea just how far north I am.

home

Okay, this is what I see when I come home. This is taken from the end of my brother's place, so you can tell family is close. The trailer in the background is where I used to live. Trailers you just live in. Home for me was always my beautiful little lake. Perhaps this is my little sink that I have been able to return to.

home

This is the sideyard to my trailer. The tree you see at the edge of it is on the shore of the lake, and when I sit in the back, I have a full view of the lake, which is a great place for me to have a morning or evening coffee. Yes, the tools leaning against it mean I do have some yardwork to do, mostly on the other side of the trailer.

younger days

I know there are supposed to be pictures of my house, but I ran across this one and just couldn't help it. This one was taken years ago, and to look at him now, one could wonder if it were an oversized sink. The boy has grown just a little bit. We are all kind of like this little cat, where we could fit long ago just isn't so easy anymore, our safe little sink worlds have long since gotten too small for us and dissappeared. What stories he could tell you of the people he's seen and the places he's been. Ask him and he'd tell you, "those are not really important now, .... I still have a safe place to be, food in my bowl, and somebody who pets me"!

Silvernail 1

It looks like I made it back here in time for a little color after all, and if I had more time to sit and watch, I would probably see some geese now and again. I have made it up here and started my job, it is just a matter of getting settled in and finding everything that was packed! I spent two days looking for my silverware, and tonight after work fighting with a bookshelf that I had carefully labeled in Oregon that almost refused to go back together right. This makes a good beginning picture for up here, this is my space with few visitors. I can usually wander down over the bank and have this lake pretty much to myself most of the time. Sometimes there's an occasional fisherman but that is about it. Most times it is real quiet. Now that my phone is hooked up, I will get back to posting and getting my website back to getting updated. For now, it is time to get back to sleep.

Tenth Post

Last night was a beautiful sunset, one of the best that I have seen around here, and I didn't have my camera with me. It was a dull golden one, not bright and fiery, but the sun was HUGE! With the clouds like they were, it was like something out of the mists of time. I went to Dinner at Morgan's and kept my promise to pay off a pool game debt. Then it was back home for some more packing, and showing the Brownie Lady how to send a virtual post card. This is what she came up with for me.... Now it's time to go to work. Two more days.

Eighth Post

I know this is not a good quality picture, but I thought I'd pop in a little reminder of what I am moving back to. This is the south corner of Silvernail Lake where I had my campsite (in my back yard) set up permanantly. I have already missed the massive amount of geese hanging around and getting ready to fly south, but I did see a few of them here yesterday, 500 miles south. This is such a quiet little lake, not that many people really know it is there, and it is more or less a privately owned lake. It used to be a good trout lake, then somebody slipped in some bass. Since I never fished it much, I really don't know what it is right now. On one end, wild asparagus patches, on the other, a lot of turtles. I used to float on it all the time, and especially liked it in the evening and night when it was nice and quiet. It makes a nice little thinking spot, right down on the shore.

Seventh Post

The first spot that I went camping in Oregon was about 50 miles up the Siletz River at a place called Moonshine Park which was a bit crowded but it was a hot day. This spot was our swimming hole, we had it to ourselves and the water was just absolutely clear. And cold. It was a nice relaxing day and just a short walk from the campsite. Upstream a little bit was the main swimming area with quite a few people and a lot of inner tubes and water mattresses. I'll take the peace and quiet thank you. Too bad I didn't find this spot sooner, I'll bet fall colors would be pretty neat in here. Just seeing that grass area in the left of the picture makes me want to set up a tent there!

Sixth Post

I had to do another post of a picture of the bay taken the day I went camping at Morgan Park just to give proof that the bay is beautiful, colorful, and everchanging. I thought this was a great way to begin my camping trip on the Siletz river.

Fifth Post

I just had to stop and take a picture of Siletz Bay. The rock formation is called the three brothers I think and is probably one of the most photographed scenes in Lincoln Cit due to the easy pullover access. If you look close you can see just how small the opening is. On the left is the very tip of Salishan Spit, where the seals like to lay around. On the right just above the last rock is one of my favorite beaches. You have a beautiful view of the bay , and by just walking around the corner, the whole ocean where you can see all the way from Otter Crest up to Roads end and Cascade Head. The first time that I saw this bay the tide was way out, and I just couldn't see what the big attraction of a great big mud flat was for everybody! What a neat surprise for me the next time I saw it! I definitely plan on doing a Siletz Bay painting some day.

Well, I thought the first picture would embed itself here, but I can't seem to do that, or delete it so just deal with it! This is of Road's End and Cascade Head. The second of my two favorite beaches. Poor me, this is where I would go a lot of the times my clothes were running through the dry cycle at the laundry. To me this will always mean "Lincoln City". My first view of the Ocean here was at the D river wayside with a view of Road's End.

fourth blog

This move, I know what is ahead of me, but I also know what I am leaving behind me; a beautiful ocean, friends, and that can be a very sad thing. I am not looking ahead yet, but rather reflecting on the past and present. There will be plenty of time to look ahead, but the "now" is slipping away hour by hour, and day by day. Today I will take a few pictures, which has always been a scenic delight for me here, and I will upload my memories to be sorted and cherished later. They were not kidding when they said that our lives would be on a computer, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. To be able to call up memories at the touch of a couple of buttons, well, that's just the new way of browsing through a photo album, just higher tech. You don't get the comment section in the old albums, just a bunch of unexplained moments in time.

Third Blog

Ten days and my life changes. New job. New home. New location. And yet all of it will be old too. I have been there before. No, not deja vu. I'm simply going back to where I've already been. Step out of the car and I'm almost four years into my past. We simply pack up our lives in a cardboard box and move on.

second post

Well, the first one was so easy, I think I will just try another one real quick, maybe another picture, and get used to this setup. I never blogged before. This could be fun!

First Post

This will be a short little thing; just enough for me to get a look and see how things are going. I think that it would be very cool to have a spot just to keep up with the everyday things in life, some thoughts on things going on, and a way to keep in touch with friends that can read it at any time.I call this picture Ocean Path, drawn with a charcoal pencil. These are quick and fun to do, and I am getting a little better at them. Certainly better than some of the beginning ones.
