Today's Ocean

The Old Paddlecraft

This is my homemade paddlecraft on Lost Lake several years ago. Not a good picture, but the fun memories are still there... chasing around on small lakes, day or night, sitting very comfortably and run by my own power. Having time to explore and a purpose for being there. The bottom half, the pontoons and platform are down on my lake now, waiting for me to reconstruct it. This time I will make it to be used on this lake only since I have no way to transport it, but I'm sure it will still be a lot of fun!

Old Water Flume

Years ago these wooden flumes were built not only to supply the valley with irrigation water for the orchards, but to provide work for people. It has been a long time since they were used, and a lot of the old flumework has been ripped out, but behind the lake, a piece of history still remains.

A Pile of Rocks

Someone left me a pile of rocks that needed their picture taken.

Lake Walk

Even though the skies clouded up, it turned out to be a pretty good day for a walk around the lake taking pictures. I ended up taking 102 of them, so there was plenty of time reformatting them for the blog. I chose this picture because it is a view of the lake I don't see that much, I am rarely on that end. Obviously, still waiting for spring green.

The Beach at Deep Bay

There is nothing like something working right to get the day started with! Pictures are worth a thousand words! But I have learned my lesson, and I should practice my creative writing, so here goes...

There's a beach. With water close to it. And trees. A sky too. The End.

Well, how did I do? Boy, I sure am glad the posting is working again! Writing is SO hard!

Another Test

There is nothing fancy about the entrance to my lake. The pictures seem to be loading good. Could this be the end of posting problems?

Test Picture

I'm not sure why I saved this picture. It was news. A fire or winter's fog; I don't remember. Maybe that was the reason. A picture that can look hot or cold at the same time...

Blogger Problems

I have been having several days of posting problems... trying to upload pictures to my site. It is not only frustrating, but I hate to be whupped by a "computer"! I have tried resizing my photos, pulling photos from different sources, changing my modem line, banging my head against the wall, posting with a URL straight off the web, using a completely different computer, waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and finally, being a guy, went to blogger help to ask for directions. In the blogger use group there seems to be a number of people with the same problem. Evidently, Blogger had a server go down not too long ago, and there may have been a few problems not fixed yet. I saw one post that said, "Yes, I know that Blogger let's us do this for FREE, but if it doesn't work right, what is the use??? Please feel FREE to GO PAY someone else! Good old America, 2006. Even FREE is not good enough! I think Blogger is a great gift, and if I have to paint pictures with WORDS (It's called creative writing) until they get things fixed, so be it. If you see no pictures for awhile, this is why. GO BLOGGER!

Just a thought for the day.... I'm still having posting problems.

Winter's Last Breath

Interesting Sky

Drift Creek

This picture of an Oregon Creek looked kind of "Springy" and peaceful to start the day with!

I have tried all weekend to make a posting , pictures will not load for some reason, so Spring starts with a Sprung Computer. I will keep trying, I hate it when computers win!

Something Green

Okay, I am not Irish, I have nothing green to wear today, but I have been where it IS green. This was on a short hike somewhere a little south of Lincoln City.

A Beautiful Ocean

Just a quick look at my ocean this morning from Spanish Head. I love the color! The day is gray up here, so I will try to keep this image in mind.

Just an old Campsite

In 1999, we were all wondering what would happen with the year 2000. Y2K. Some went a little crazy with it and spent a lot of money, some got rich selling survival secrets, and I think many just ignored it. (If we do that, then it will just go away!) I had my campsite. With a little extra preperation such as canned food and warm clothes, I knew we could weather just about anything out until Spring. I used to sit in this campsite and think alot, about the Y2K, and what would happen to people if it were as bad as some believed. It seems long distant now, but the hope was that the government would maintain their infastructure, and in a matter of time, everything would be okay. Recent examples of Katrina devastation show how ineffective they might have been. Now days, there are other concerns, sooner or later we are going to run out of oil and that gas is going to get a lot more expensive. Everything will. Life will have to change. I will probably not have my campsite, which was a great place for me, but I am close. It was almost magical, to take five steps from cultured and well manacured yard to primitive campsite that completely hid the "yard". I still believe in the campsite. We should always be prepared..

The Shores of Wannacut

There is still a bit of "wildness" on this end of Wannacut Lake. The far end has a small resort and homes and summer cabins.

A Day for a Drive

In a matter of just a few minutes we can leave the house and be here at Wannacut Lake. Right now that is ice on the lake. It won't be there too much longer.

Wannacut Lake Area

I'll call this Wannacut Pond for lack of a better name or at least knowing it. Fifteen minutes away from town at a slow drive, and low enough to have the snow melted off. This is the type of country I was raised in; something you can travel through.

Storm Track

This was just a small little fit of snow and rain that passed through in a matter of about twenty minutes, leaving nothing on the ground, but it was interesting to watch it move down the grade and enclose Mt. Hull. Quite a bit of the skies around this area were a nice blue.

Whispering Trees

"It is just a little longer until springtime"... the trees say to one another, "soon the warmer rains will come and add our color back into the world. Already, the sky and clouds are trying, and we will not be far behind" !

Sunset for the Birds

These five geese were just begging me to take their picture, so I thought I would oblige them. Now I wonder if the sunset was made for them ... instead of for me.

A quick beach

I only had a little bit of beach time in Lincoln City, and only at Road's End beach, but I'm still pretty happy when I get to see my ocean. The weather was a little rough and chilly, but this is the first of March, so I wasn't counting on blue skies. No matter where you look, there is always a view here.
